Top Areas of Focus

The city council is here to serve the city.   We all need to work together to make things happen at the request of our community!    When the community is asking for action, we need to make it happen.   

Safety impacts all of us and we've been thankful to be rated as one of the safest cities in South Carolina several times but we still need constant improvement to maintain a safe environment for everyone.   This includes better crosswalks across Tega Cay drive and putting tools in place to encourage safe driving through our neighborhoods as well as keeping our parks safe and clean. 

I will use my business background to help stimulate economic development in a way that the residents want.  For many years, the largest tax payer in Tega Cay has been... TacoBell!!  Not that I have anything against the Tbell, but this speaks to how great the need is for promoting continued economic development in a way that benefits our community.  Tega Cay has one of the highest income levels in the state but most of our money is being spent, and taxed, elsewhere.  As a part of the city Economic Development Commission, I've been able to gain an in-depth understanding for how Tega Cay can promote better business growth of the right kind.    Business such as Model A are a huge step in the right direction for Tega Cay and we need to proactively look to bring more businesses which improve life and culture for everyone in the city.   In meeting with local businesses, I've learned our business license cost and process has had a very negative effect in bringing new businesses to the area.    We need to improve the business license structure and put other measures in place which create incentives for preferred businesses to come to Tega Cay.   We have very little land left to grow and we cannot waste the space we have left with oil change shops or another row of prefab cookie-cutter houses.   This will also improve the city funding which will then allow for more of everything else our city wants/needs! 

The city has a right to know what the city is doing.   We need to have all council meetings Facebook live streamed and easily accessible live on our website.  We need to put more enforcements in place to make sure nothing is done without the people being aware of it - the city council is here to serve the residents! 

Everyone loves the parks and we need to insure we are constantly maintaining and expanding them to accommodate for a growing city.   We also need to continue expanding the types of activities we offer in our parks so that there's something for everyone!    We need to make sure that as we expand our parks, such as with the buildout of the Catawba river park, we are looking to funding in the form of corporate sponsorships, instead of relying on tax payers.  As we expand, we also need to make sure we are expanding the types of parks that our residents want and keep the focus on what the residents are looking for.
